Microbiome
The body of a human being contains as a basic building block many billions of body cells with different tasks and functions. About 100 times (!) the amount of microorganisms (essentially bacteria) live mainly in the intestine, in smaller numbers on the skin, among other things. These co-inhabitants are called “microbiome”.
Microbiome – an organism in our body
Microbiome research, which has only existed for a few years, is concerned with the significance of the microbiome. It is becoming apparent that not only chronic diseases, such as diabetes, are influenced by the microbiome. The microbiome is increasingly seen as an organism that is connected to our bodily functions and ultimately helps determine our individuality.
Microbiome and chronic diseases
Through the release of nutrients and provision of energy, the gut microbiome has a significant impact on human health. Therefore, whether a person is sick or healthy, even psychological well-being, depends more or less on the composition of his or her microbiome. Thus, the microbiome influences diseases such as diabetes mellitus, obesity, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis and other skin diseases, also asthma, allergies and rejection reactions.
Microbiome and body weight
From experiments on “fat” mutant mice lacking the hormone leptin, which is important for weight regulation, it is known that the microbiome of fat and lean mice differs in terms of the composition of the ratio of bacteria of the genus Bacteroides and Firmicutes, with fat mice having a greater proportion of Firmicutes. The human microbiome also influences body weight. The ratio between the proportion of Firmicutes and Bacteroides is different in slim and fat individuals, and is shifted toward Firmicutes in fat individuals. Experiments in which the intestinal flora from the large intestine of fat mice was transplanted into “microorganism-free” mice showed that these subsequently gained weight despite a reduction in food intake. Causes of a disturbed balance of the bacterial ecosystem in the intestine.
Prebiotics and probiotics
Prebiotics are food components that favorably influence the growth and activity of health-promoting intestinal bacteria. Probiotics are living microorganisms that positively influence the microbial balance of the intestinal flora.
The importance of prebiotics
Prebiotics are dietary ingredients that specifically influence the activity and growth of bacteria responsible for a favorable balance of the bacterial ecosystem in the colon. Dietary fiber has prebiotic effects, it has the property of binding water, thereby increasing the volume of stool and at the same time shortening the transit time through the intestine. However, not all dietary fibers are the same. Soluble fiber, such as psyllium, appears to be superior to insoluble fiber such as bran. Foods high in fiber include fruits, vegetables, whole grain bread, oatmeal, nuts, and others. In scientific studies, attempts are being made with certain prebiotics to change the microbiome of diabetics and in this way lower blood sugar levels.
On the other hand, white flour products (e.g. baguettes, rolls), foods rich in animal fats, especially pork, hidden fats in sausage and cheese, very spicy foods, sweets, flatulent foods such as cabbage (except broccoli), onions, legumes or fresh bread from the oven, as well as many convenience foods are unfavorable for the “intestinal environment”.
We highly recommend our unique probiotic colon drink, which contains trillions of good bacteria and as many as 27 strains. One bottle (34oz) lasts up to a week and colondrink can be used by adults and children. It is a unique product with a very high concentration of good bacteria, nothing like Yakult or similar popular products with only a few billion good bacteria.
COLONDRINK+ is plant based, especially important for those who are lactose intolerant, or simply concerned about their health to avoid unnecessary substances such as sugar or flavour enhancers or food colours. This is a very high quality product that you won’t find in popular supermarkets like Kroger, Walmart, Costco, etc. We are thrilled to share that our product has received an abundance of positive reviews from satisfied customers! They rave about the delicious taste and unique tangy flavor that is sure to please even the most discerning palates. Don’t miss out on this mouthwatering experience!
